As you may know, I have been participating and contributing to the European Keto Live Center since its inception in 2019 (read more here). The enthusiasm, passion and skills that the founder, Josephine Barbarino, has brought to the table from the very beginning are truly infectious!
In only four years, Josephine has attracted some of the most illustrious scientists, researchers, doctors and other medical professionals to the conference and advisory board (see here for details). Not only this- she is actively working on bringing the key people in the area of metabolic health for chronic conditions together AND getting them to collaborate and share their knowledge.
The next big step in Josephine’s vision is to establish a centre for Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy in Switzerland, my home country. This centre will not only be a place where patients can be introduced to, monitored and accompanied throughout their journey with metabolic therapy. It will also become home to a training and education centre for doctors, medical professionals and their staff, the “International Metabolic Health Pilot- Connecting the Sciences in the Fight against NCDs”. NCD stands for “non-communicable diseases”, i.e. conditions like diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular disease and many others that aren’t “contagious” or transmitted from one person to another.
This project will be the ideal platform not only for continuing education programmes but also for the promotion of international networking for scientists in the field of metabolic health. It is a great honour for me to be on the advisory board of the centre and I can’t wait to see how the project unfolds in the coming months and years!
